Day 2: New City, New Plans

July 27, 2014

The decision at midnight to alter all of our previous plans and head to London instead of Venice really super charged our attitudes this morning. So much of the fun in taking this trip was planning, so the opportunity to start over was exciting.

After a quick waffle and coffee we started to wonder if we could utilize the few hours that we had in NYC. We contemplated riding the Statan Island Ferry for a view of the city but quickly realized we would be cutting it too close. We needed to be back at the airport by 5ish for our 7pm flight.

In the end, our decision was to head back to the airport. We utilized the next few hours to eat a delicious lunch of BBQ, commence a photo shoot on Terminal 4 of JFK and continue planning our trip. It’s amazing how easy it is to kill time in a busy airport. The constant flow of people keep it interesting.

Our gate was assigned mid afternoon, B22… The same gate from the failed attempt to Venice the night before. But then our names were quickly clear off the standby list and our seats were assigned. We were officially off to London.

The flight was smooth, the food good, I actually got a few hours of sleep and now, 6 hours and 20 minutes later, we are just now landing at Heathrow.

We have little to no idea what day three will hold for us. No hotel booked, no real plans and no real idea of how long we will be here. This adventure is just getting started… And that’s just what we wanted.
