Does every photographer have a macro stage?

July 14, 2014

On a whim last week I made a purchase on Amazon. While looking for backup batteries for my camera, they suggested I take a look at a lens/filter bundle pack. (No surprise, they knew just what I wanted.) It came with three lenses, 7 filters and a few other odds and ends. I decided to pull the trigger and get them. A small investment compared to one of the standard Fujifilm lenses. Today the box arrived and I am so glad that I made the purchase.

Macro Lens

I came home from work, picked some of the flowers in the front yard, and started shooting. Ever since I started taking photos (about 11 years old) I have always been captivated by macro photos (Macro are just very up-close photos of things.) and these new lenses take it to a whole new level. It’s just fun to capture the little details of something.

It occurred to me that pro photographers probably move on from shooting a lot of macro photographs. You can only have so many pictures of flowers, bugs, and other random objects. For me… I have been in the macro stage for about 15 years. It doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.
