The National Eagle Center: It’s worth a visit.

July 19, 2014

If you ever find yourself driving through Wabasha, Minnesota or need a fun weekend trip… I would suggest stopping at the National Eagle Center. Located right on the Mississippi RIver and near downtown Wabasha, the center is host to five injured bald and golden eagles and multiple interactive exhibits.

The eagles are quite amazing to look at and you can stand feet from them. They all sit on their perches throughout the day without a barrier between you and the massive birds. All of them were injured before coming to the center and now act as ambassadors for their breed.

I felt like a little kid again as we stood next to the large birds as they gazed back at us. We also wandered around the other exhibits in the center but most of them were kid focused. (The kids there were really enjoying them.) The $8 entry fee was well worth being able to spend a few minutes in the presence of the birds. Plus, right outside the center is the Mississippi River and the chance of seeing a wild eagle was pretty high.
